Why some issues blow up? Please go back to the drawing board again....

NOTE: This is a blogpost that did not take me a lot of time writing. Do not expect it to be perfect, as I have no time to polish it, and I have no intention to do so. It's only an expression of my thoughts. The third point is longer as there is currently a storm in the tea cup stirred up by some detractors.  ----------------------------------------------------- To be frank, there a number of wrong perceptions that were actually created by PH.  Here are some examples: (a) Council election will solve the problem of local government's lack of performance. My answer: No, you will only attract those people with deep pockets who will get elected to become mayors so that they can dig into the public coffers. Dirty politics will come in.  What we need are good people, not yet another system of choosing the right people. The Chinese dynasties were known for its many human resource policies for selecting officials, yet the most comprehensive assessment system adopted by the Ching D...

Exercise some critical thinking before accusing Hannah Yeoh or the Selangor State Government of nepotism

29 May 2024  A lot of people have been asking me about this case, here is my answer: DO YOU SEE WHAT I SEE? A poster like this which is already in circulation is a tell-tale sign that this is part of a plot to cause the collapse of the Madani Government.  THE WORD ‘NEPOTISM’ has been stretched too far that I find it incredulous to hear people saying anyone married to a minister should not be given a government contract.           By definition , ‘nepotism’ means “the unfair practice of granting jobs and favours to relatives, often in business and politics.”           That was the reason I did not think that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should bow to pressure from unreasonable people when her daughter, Nurul Izzah was willing to take up a non-paying job to assist her father in the Ministry of Finance (MOF).           Nurul would have done a good job to ensure that all the...

Thank you to several ministers, MPs and political secretaries

From Bentong, the two stateless cases were brought to my attention recently. Their cases were submitted to the office of Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.  Both his former and present political secretaries, Tn Johari Kassim and Tn Yahaya Shaari have been most helpful in solving the cases of stateless people submitted to the minister's office.  Light at the end of the Tunnel Several of the stateless cases have been solved, and the latest news came just two hours ago from a gentleman from Bentong. He and I have never met, but I am glad the Home Ministry has issued the family a letter granting citizenship for one of the two children.  We are hoping the girl's brother will also receive her application approved. Both applications were submitted back in 2018. Between then and now, it has been six years of silence. I must say this is all about the political will I see in the Madani government. I write this for the sake of those who are still skeptic...

Embrace for more landslides and fallen trees

Image
LESS than 24 hours after a taxi driver died in the federal capital when an old tree fell on his taxi, tonight I received all these photographs showing more trees falling on cars parked by the side of the road.  This happened at Desa Damai Puri (near Desa Aman Puri) . Residents are now appealing to the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) to do something before another disaster happens again.  Some time early this year, a tree fell onto a Grab motorcyclist in Wangsa Permai, a nearby housing estate. He suffered from a broken leg.  With Malaysia recording heavy rainfall, efforts have to be done to cut down trees that are apparently dead like this one captured by residents. It is not only in this area that we see such neglect by the local council. It is all over Malaysia. This is due to a lack of the maintenance culture in our local government.  No Difference Before 2008 and After 2014 When complaints are brought to the local council, be it in writing or a phone call,...
