Royal Pardon is not an Option for Najib

Image
By Stephen Ng   Although disgraced Prime Minister, Najib Abdul Razak has 14 days to file in for Royal Pardon, this is not an option that would be accepted by the people.             It would certainly not look good for Umno as a political party either, as people link Najib to Umno. Public opinion is that, whether Umno leaders or otherwise, no one is above the law.             No one, with a sound mind, would agree that the former Umno veteran be given a special treatment by the Agong.             Even when Najib appeared in the palace for a meal together with the Agong, public outcry was loud and clear. Here was a convict who was allowed to move freely in the royal palace, bringing disgrace to the good name of the monarchy. The Odds against Najib             ...

Najib should know what an appeal to the Federal Court is about

Image
By Stephen Ng   Former Prime Minister, Najib Abdul Razak and his lawyers should understand what an appeal to the Federal Court is about.             Even a school student who has to appeal to the school board from being expelled would understand what the right posture is when making an appeal.              It is his arrogance that has led to his own downfall. Now, the ‘Cash is King’ has to languish in prison for the next 12 years in jail, and the shame that he brings to the Razak family will remain for many years to come. Cash is not King             I do not celebrate because he has fallen. I had wished that the son of Malaysia’s second prime minister, Abdul Razak Hussein would repent of his ways. Now, may he remember that it is not cash but that the ‘Rakyat is King.’ I celebrate because at last ...

Nothing to celebrate, it's upholding of justice which is paramount in Malaysia

By Stephen Ng   Najib Abdul Razak’s final appeal at the apex court has caused a frenzy of sorts in the social media.                 People are making fun, celebrating and dancing over the decision made by the five federal judges to stop Najib’s team of lawyers from dragging the case for another few more months.                 Someone came out with a new song about ‘Bosku, apa malu’ which I think is kind of creative and comical. Others find their disgust expressed in more pictorial forms, depicting how Najib and his lawyers have delayed the court process.                 I particularly like one which said, “Doctor, remember the ICU room I cancelled yesterday? I want it back again. My lawyers will advise you when I’ll be sick an...

Just give them the IC

By Stephen Ng           The story of Rohana Abdullah ,, an abandoned child of Malaysian and Indonesian parentage, being raised by a former school teacher is a heartwarming story.           This is the true Malaysian spirit, where the girl was raised by someone who took sympathy of her. Chee Hoi Lan is now probably a retiree, who went the extra mile to raise the child; Rohana, in return, is making every effort to ensure that her adopted mother, Chee is well taken care of while Rohana has to relocate to Melaka to pursue her education.           As I write this article, I think Chee should be nominated as the Mother of the Year. I am not sure if she has her own children, but the bond between Chee and Rohana is simply amazing.           This is indeed the spirit of true humanity. It has, and it will always remain a Malaysian thing, except that its light has always been cl...
