Prioritising the Safety of Our Schoolchildren

Image
The safety of schoolchildren must be our highest priority. When a child’s wellbeing is at risk, decisive action must be taken—especially against contractors whose negligence endangers lives. I fully support the call by the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs), urging the Ministry of Education to take school safety seriously and act swiftly. This issue reminds me of an incident at my children’s primary school in  Petaling Jaya several years ago. Contractors failed to comply with safety, health, and environmental guidelines.  As a result, fumes—believed to be from welding work—spread into classrooms, causing several pupils to vomit. The Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) responded promptly with a stop-work order. Tragically, in this case, a Year Three pupil died after falling into the manhole. According to a source from Indah Water Konsortium (IWK), who requested anonymity, the contractor had violated safety protocol...

EXPOSE THEM YOUNG TO THE REAL WORLD: My Advices to Teachers and Parents

Image
If we want the next generation of Malaysians to excel in medicine, we must spark their interest early—especially in specialised fields like surgery—by providing meaningful exposure. During an Open Day at Sunway University last year (2024), I took my children to meet Dr. K. Sagathevan, a former colleague of mine. He graciously introduced them to the world of surgery and even recommended the instruments they would need to conduct dissections at home. Following his advice, I spent around RM120 at a shop near Subang Jaya Medical Centre to purchase the necessary apparatus. Since then, my children have dissected a buffalo frog (sourced from a restaurant that serves frog dishes), a fish, and various animal organs including the liver, heart, and kidneys. Remarkably, my son was just 16 and my daughter was 13 when they performed their first animal dissections. It could have been earlier had I thought about it!  Earlier, when they were still in primary school, I was doing consulting fo...

Appreciating what the two ladies are doing for Kuala Lumpur

Image
I had the privilege of meeting Datuk Seri Dr Zaleha Mustafa for nearly two hours at her office shortly after she assumed the role of Minister of Federal Territories. In my view, she stands out as one of the most capable ministers in the Madani cabinet.          In fact, her constituents in Sekijang should be proud of their member of parliament doing great things to revive Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan, a task that requires her attention.            During our conversation, I shared a concern close to my heart: Kuala Lumpur, despite its modern façade, has become a "soulless city."           When Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Shariff was tipped to become Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, I was genuinely excited. Back in 2012-3, I had hoped she might one day take on that role—though it seemed impossible at the time.            Instead, I recommended her to Lim Guan Eng, urging ...

Wee should pursue an education landscape offering equal opportunities aligned with each individual's abilities and inclinations.

Image
This image serves to ignite your imagination, encouraging reflection that goes deeper than the text alone. =================== MCA President Wee Ka Siong has finally emerged from political slumber.           In recent weeks, he has been drawing attention to peripheral issues and criticising government policies with a tone that suggests he had excelled during his tenure as Minister of Transport—an impression not widely shared.           To be fair, I hold deep respect for leaders such as Dr Fong Chan Onn, Chua Jui Meng, and my personal favourite, Lim Ah Lek. But Wee’s recent interventions have missed the mark. I was reluctant to pen this piece, yet felt compelled to voice my disappointment over his latest polemics involving Edward Wong, 20, from SMJK Jit Sin in Bukit Mertajam. Longstanding Issue           It’s not the fact that he raised the issue—everyone knows this problem has existed since...

Dwarf starfruits after just a few months

Image
I wrote this to my fellow residents:  Fellow residents, pluck when you see the fruits while doing your morning exercise. It is this kind of fruit trees from grafting that can be very meaningful for all of us.  I tasted it.  Sweetness is about 70% my expectation but good enough. I hope in KL and PJ, and around the country, the local authorities will follow the example of Tuan Mokhtar Affandi, our Council’s landscape director. Thanks to Tn Mokhtar of MPS, the starfruit is waiting to be picked  It is from this tree that I captured the picture of the Starfruit https://come-to-senses.blogspot.com/2025/09/free-fruits-for-all.html

Eradication of Systemic Corruption and the current anti-corruption under PMX must go on

Image
Corruption has long plagued the nation, eroding trust and weakening institutions. It is heartening to see PMX and the Agong now taking decisive steps—not only in confronting the corrupt, but also in safeguarding the welfare of the B40 and, increasingly, the M40.        Had Malaysia remained under the grip of two former prime ministers, we might well have been the next domino to fall.         History offers sobering parallels: the French Revolution, the collapse of the Qing Dynasty, and in more recent times, the upheavals in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Nepal—all sparked by systemic rot and public despair.       But in Malaysia’s case, something deeper is at work. God has stirred a renewal, embedding kingdom values into the nation’s fabric—because the people prayed.       Malaysians must not allow ourselves to be manipulated by politicians seeking to evade the net cast to haul them up for  their involvement in corrup...

Buah, rezeki Tuhan untuk semua # Fruits, God's provision for all | 水果,众人共享的天赐恩典 | பழங்கள், எல்லோருக்கும் கடவுளின் அருளான வரம்

Image
Preside...
