People's Choice in Puchong, Damansara
Yeo Bee Yin will most likely win the Puchong parliamentary seat hands-down.
The other candidates are not worth looking at. With the current wind of change blowing across the country, Puchong will once again be in the hands of Pakatan Harapan.
Just looking at the 2013 and 2018 results, there is no reason to believe that Puchong has swung towards Perikatan Nasional or Barisan Nasional.
It is possible that the well-known Uncle Kentang may even lose his deposit, based on the sentiments of the people choosing either Anwar Ibrahim (PH) or Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (BN) as the 10th Prime Minister.
So, her initials YBY will still remain, Yang Berhormat Yeo.
Damansara
In Damansara, Gobind Singh Deo's winning the seat is also very good, given that Damansara voters are mainly pro-PH. The other two candidates have not made much impact on national politics.
Given the current `Reject Traitors' movement, Perikatan Nasional's chances of winning is very slim in Damansara. Lim Si Ching would be fortunate enough if he can get back his deposit.
In 2018, Tan Gim Tuan contested against Lim Yi Wei on a state seat (Kampung Tunku), a novice in politics. Lim won with a majority of 30,444.
MCA has to work harder to solve voters' problems in the coming parliamentary term if it wants to woo voters in urban seats. For now, Pakatan Harapan MPs better buck up, if they think they can continue to retain their seats without being close with the people.
At the moment, it appears that MPs have been taught that they are only policy and lawmakers. Without being on the ground, they will only be as good as coming out with policies out of their ivory towers.
It is hard to tell people you are elected by the people for the people, without being with the people when they are faced with a particular issue.
