Hannah Yeoh has resigned!

Believe it or not? Hannah Yeoh has resigned.

Or, at least this is the impression given by a video that is circulating on social media. In fact, these days, the disseminators of false information need not say anything.

Due to the "controversy" created by the cyber troopers, it is easy for anyone watching this video to feel sad that Minister of Youth and Sports has called it a day.

But look at it carefully. Where was this video taken? It was in parliament. Wow, it would be serious if Yeoh resigned as a parliamentarian, which means Segambut people get to vote again.

This may be their opportunity to put the Perikatan National (PN) in power, after which we may see public caning of any Muslim man or woman caught in a khalwat situation.

This was what Datuk Hashim Jasin, the spiritual advisor of PAS, a member party of PN said recently: 'PAS spiritual leader moots public caning for Shariah offences across all Perikatan-led states.' (Malay Mail).

Use Critical Thinking

It is important for us to use some critical thinking to analyse the video. Is it about Yeoh resigning as MP or as a member of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's cabinet?

I happen to have her number since 2008. Therefore, I know the answer. But if you do not have access to her, here are some of the questions you have to ask
  • If Yeoh resigned from any post she is holding, her news would be immediately picked up by the news media. The media will sensationalise it. Anything so far in the media?
  • If Yeoh had not resigned, why are people posting this video on social media? What is the perception that they wish to communicate to you?
  • Why do you think Yeoh is among those who are attacked intensively besides Anwar, his deputy, Rafizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail?
  • What was exactly the defamation case against former IGP Tan Sri Musa Hassan about? Why was this issue suddenly becoming such a big controversy when the book "Becoming Hannah" was, in fact, published in 2012?
  • Why so many police reports were lodged against Yeoh? Is this not the same modus operandi by the same NGOs? How many people do they claim they represent? All the Malays in the country?

The next round something like this crops up,  you have to use your critical thinking skills to analyse.

But, let me attempt to give you the answers for this one.

  • Yeoh has not resigned from any political or her cabinet post as the Minister of Sports and Youth Development. There was nothing in the media about her resignation.

Just to console you: I confirmed it with her myself. She has, in fact, sent me the link to this video on TikTok which she posted in 2022.

She said this was an old video in 2022, immediately after the Sheraton Move which we now know is linked to Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and a number of others who betrayed your votes and mine.

Whenever there is a change of government, the MPs have to change their seats.

  • Your guess is as good as mine why this old video was posted. But you are the one who believe that Yeoh has resigned, and you help to disseminate it. Some hidden hands are happy that you are now their unpaid troopers to viral such videos. Oh, I see this happening almost every day, especially all the attacks now centred on the PMX.
  • All this is done to create a perception that Yeoh is throwing the towel. It is a form of psychological warfare to make you think that there is no more hope in the coalition led by PMX. It has happened in physical wars where flyers were dropped from the planes to tell people that their leaders have surrendered.
  • Yeoh happens to be one of the most effective MPs in the current government. That is why she is being attacked. Ever wondered why others such as Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi are hardly touched by the cyber troopers? Perhaps, it is because the PH cyber troopers are less brutal and they should still uphold the agreement that puts the unity government together. Please don't ask me why as I do not have all the answers.
  • The defamation case was a civil suit against the former IGP for defaming Yeoh in one of her speeches. It should not even be exploited as the case needs to go through the court processes.
  • In winning the case, Yeoh would have to prove that Musa had defamed her openly. I am not privy to the details of the court case, but Yeoh has her reputation to protect. This is also to stop all the unfair allegations that were made against the Christian community as a whole that we are trying to "Christianise this nation," the very notion of which made me laugh.
  • By now, you can guess why so many police reports are lodged against Yeoh by the NGOs. Many of these NGOs appear when they have a certain agenda.

Accept the Reality in Move on in Life

My only advice is to just accept the Reality of our political landscape and move on in life, instead of getting so worked up. I doubt we can change the mindset of the people that has been poisoned for so many years by someone who is trying to topple the PMX just like what he did to others.

The good news is that most Malaysians, especially the ordinary Malays who have not imbibed the politics of hate, are now fully aware with how they have been cheated by the politicians.

As for Hannah Yeoh, she will continue to serve the current government and make do with whatever resources she has to mould a culture of excellence in our athletes. PMX, on the other hand will have to press on with the reforms that we are seeing being rolled out every day.

Reversing years of ingrained attitudes rooted in the mindset of "grab whatever you can while you can" will not be an easy task, but it has to begin somewhere now.

So, please do not have the perception that every Muslim is the same.

My heart will go on

It must be at least twenty years ago when I first encountered Malaysia’s very own Stevie Wonder, Colin Ng Soon Beng. It was during Chinese New Year, at the home of a mutual friend. Colin was only about ten years old then. His mother introduced him to me as a “special child.” She said, “Pick a song. We’ll play it for Colin to listen, and he will play it back for you.” I chose My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. To this day, Colin still remembers that it was the song he played for me. Born with multiple disabilities, Colin’s journey has been anything but ordinary. Being visually impaired, he could not learn music the way most children do. Yet God blessed him with an extraordinary gift: a razor-sharp ear. He could identify the brand of a photocopier or the model of a car simply by hearing its sound. His mother, Janet, devoted her life to nurturing his talent. After losing her husband when Colin was 24, she became not only a mother but also a father figure, chauffeur, and companion in ...

DALAM EMPAT BAHASA/ IN FOUR LANGUAGES/在四种语言中/ நான்கு மொழிகளில்: A Piece of Good News Worth Celebratinng
