Nine years of waiting and she has finally received her permanent residency
IT IS HEARTENING to hear from an Indonesian mother of Chinese descent who married a Malaysian man and, after nearly nine years of waiting, finally had her Entry Permit appeal—initially rejected—approved by the Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Here are her own heartfelt words of appreciation to Saifuddin Nasution, spoken from a place of deep gratitude:

Thank you so much to the Minister and the Immigrations Department for approving my Entry Permit application. I am very happy because my waiting from 2017 since I submitted an Entry Permit Appeal and was rejected and given a Resident pass. And I am appealed to have my Entry Permit Appeal approved as a wife to a citizen and a mother of 2 citizen children. Thank you to the Minister and the JPN because my wait after almost 9 years is over now. Thank you so much and God bless 🙏🙏
Frankly, I do not recall who she is, but I am truly glad that her long wait for Permanent Residency has finally ended. We celebrate this milestone with her. You can imagine how overjoyed she was upon receiving that one life-changing letter!
The minister is actively working to resolve all outstanding cases of individuals without citizenship as quickly as possible. Many of you will be receiving your responses after they reveal the cases. Last year, the minister's primary focus was on stateless individuals within the country. Many cases have since been approved, and those affected are now awaiting their identity cards. I am informed that a few of them are expecting to receive their ICs by end of March 2025.
However, some applicants remain hesitant to come forward because their parents had obtained their birth certificates illegally. After a year of intelligence gathering, the authorities have identified these individuals, and a syndicate involved in such activities has been dismantled. This is in a way to warn civil servants that the government is serious about these syndicate activities. It is hoped that others will refrain from engaging in similar fraudulent practices to avoid legal consequences.
If these individuals do not voluntarily step forward, the police will actively seek them out. Therefore, I urge everyone—if any agent approaches you, offering a quick fix for your stateless status in exchange for money, do not fall for it. Accepting such offers could lead to your arrest as a willing participant in the syndicate. I am telling you based on what I am being told.
